Vintage Dresser Delight

Today I wanted to show you a re-vamped dresser. Again, it was another
steel - a whooping twenty-five dollars!
It was originally dark brown shellac
with plastic pulls.
I stripped, primed and painted it white,
cut out wallpaper remnants and applied,
added pewter hardward, and voila!

A reinvented dresser!
It is solid wood and fine quality,
but definitely better looking than it once was.
Oh, when will I learn to take 'before' shots?
I almost forgot to mention ...
I added the antique rack to the back with a few screws - it gives
the dresser an antique look, don't you think?
I love the plate hanging above it. It was
given to me by my mother, Anne, and it once belonged to
her grandmother.
Have a wonderful day!

  1. Oh Sarah, I just LOVE your dresser and the way you revamped it!! It it beatiful. It does look antique. If it were up to me I could paint everything white, or shades there of and maybe throw in a little PINK now and then. The blue and white wear platter hanging above it is beautiful too!! Can't wait until the next post.

  2. Aww, thanks, Deanna! I had so much fun doing it. My poor husband has given up rolling his eyes when he sees me drag home yet another 'stray'!

  3. What did you use to seal it or what paint did you use that it doesn't mark easily? I did a table once and it was constantly getting stained. Help!

  4. I used a Benjamin Moore paint, but a National color called marble tile. I finished it with a craft low gloss varnish, and so far, so oood!
If it was in Ben's room, mind you, it would be reduced to rubble by now!
